Hello Ladies! I hope everyone is staying warm. We had a brief snow storm here but it quickly passed and left a fluffy blanket behind. I love snow but only when I have the day off! So in prep of what might happen my hubby got the fireplace ready in case of power outages.
Who says being without power is boring? It all depends on how you look at it. We love to sit in front of a cozy fire and just soak up the warmth. Since there is no tv or radio, we crank up the victrola and listen to vintage records.
For those who have no clue what a record is, they were round plastic discs that would emit sounds when played . LOL!
We bought this victrola from a man who was in the same room as my uncle at an assisted living home.
He had this stored in the attic and was selling his home and contents in order to stay there. He told us this was one of the first things he and his wife bought.
We buy alot of antiques, but I love to know some of the history behind them. I like to think of it as preserving memories. This serving tray I bought at a yard sale ages ago.
I want to insert a doily under the glass when I find the perfect size. That might take me awhile until then,I hope everyone stays warm!

You Victrola is indeed a nice treasure.
ReplyDeleteI am well aware of the vintage records. In facet, I have a big collection of them. I just recently bought a record player that I can play them on.
ReplyDeleteYour old Victrola looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed a few minutes ago that I was getting cold and that it had started snowing again.
Oooh I love it!... brings back happy memories for me of sitting with my daddy when I was a littel girl and listening to his old records... thanks for sharing!... xoxo Julie Marie

Sounds like you've found a great secret to enjoy winter's solitude. A cozy fire, and great company, with a little vintage sound system thrown in!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in to VIF!!

Debra

Hi Terry!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for checking up on me! How sweet you are! I'm fine now, just getting over ANOTHER cold, and the coughing has worn me out! I've stayed off the computer except for business stuff because the room the computer is in is COLD!! I'm hoping to feel much better next week and back to the blogging!
Love your Victrola! How awesome to have such a unique piece of history!
Blessings to you, Doni
Terry,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit!!
Did you have snow and now freezing rain out there in your part of Pa? We are now closed with ice and it does not look like it will be melting any time soon! I am glad that i am off tonight!
I too love snow but will welcome the day when I can be home and enjoy and do not have to drive to work in it any more!
Stay safe, my friend!
Hugs,
Debbie
I love the snow, when I can just sit inside and admire it. Seeing your old Victrola reminds me that I have several old Victrola cabinet tops stored away for projects. I need to get busy on those.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to the party. I look forward to having you each week.
Blessings,
