Pink Houses

Thanks for visiting me as I join Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for her Pink Saturday. Be sure to check her blog for all of this weeks participants.

For Pink Saturday I decided to show you some of the houses from Charleston,SC. You will find quite a few homes pretty in pink. Cool pastel colors like pink along with yellow, blue and green are used to help keep the houses cool from the summer heat.

Sorry some of the pictures are not very good, it is hard to take pictures while driving around and having traffic in back of you. I just love how everything is so detailed from ironwork to fretwork, right down to plush planters and garden pathways. Hope you enjoyed this quick tour of some of many homes in beautiful Charleston.

I'm back!

Oh it is so good to be home! Why is it we can't wait to go on vacation, but we look forward to coming home just as much?
Charleston was fantastic except for the humidity. I would recommend going there to anyone but do it in the spring or fall after the heat and humidity has gone. We did so much while we were there that it is hard to remember everything. The first place we went was to Magnolia Hall plantation.
Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, it is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America. This place is fantastic. We toured the house (no pictures allowed in the house), did the slave tour and also took the swamp boat tour.
I could have spent the whole day there soaking up the gardens and watching the wildlife.
My hubby said that since I saw my alligators I could go home right then and there.
I'm not so sure about that with all the trees with their branches covered with spanish moss and vines growing everywhere, I had a hard time keeping up with everyone. I wanted to just stand and soak it all in. Most people would tell you to go to see Boone Hall plantation, but I would tell you to be sure to see this place.
I'm sure you will get tired of hearing about Charleston but if you ever get the chance go see it for yourself but give yourself at least a week to enjoy all there is to do.
Well now I got to go do laundry and that will take me a week!

Pink Saturday and Lunch

It's time again for Beverly's pink Saturday.
Since it is such a nice day we could have an afternoon snack on the porch.

We are not having anything fancy just some sandwiches and fresh fruit. The heat here makes one almost not want to eat!

Hope you brought along your sunglasses it is a little bright out.
I just love this pillow! This is one of the last things my late mother gave me.
Here is a touch of pink on my teapot.

Can you see my pink gazing ball in the background?
Even our mimosa tree is full pink bloom!
Thanks for joining me and be sure to stop by Beverly's at How Sweet the Sound to see all the other great contributers to pink Saturday.

Busy Bee

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend ! I really had no time to post, I've been so busy. Every year we go on vacation for 2 weeks so this is prep time. I have been busy pre-cooking, planning and cleaning, shopping and of course laundry. Since my hubby is from North Carolina we always go to Myrtle Beach for a family get-together, but this year we are doing something different. I always wanted to check out Charleston, SC, so.....
Charleston here we come!
This is our home away from home.
Looks small huh? Come on in, I'll show you around.
This is my very compact kitchen. There is a microwave up-top but I missed it somehow.
Our dining room with the table down for easier travel. Our comforters we keep on top of the table during travel to prevent anything that might fall from breaking as easily.
Of course we have a living room. The couch and kitchen table both fold down to make beds. This whole side slides in during travel to make the whole camper more compact.
Here is our one man bathroom. Small but it is better than some of the shower houses in some campgrounds.
The spot with all the blankets folded is the opening for one of the ends that folds down into a queen size bed. is. Unfortunately it is closed at the moment so I can't show you how spacious it is. We also have another queen size bed at the other end, which is also closed.
The small counter space at the right (the space covered in clutter at the moment) is where our TV goes. It's not the most luxurious camper but it gets the job done.
I have so many places that I would love to see while in Charleston but I'm unsure how much will be worth it.
Has anyone else ever been there? If so, if there are any must see places you know of I would love to hear about them!
I am also working on some posts to pre-schedule while we are gone so you don't think I forgot about you.  Well got to go I need to start another load of laundry.....Buzzzzy, buzzzy, buzzzzy.

Beach Front Property

I hope everyone is going to have a great holiday weekend no matter where you spend it. We are going to spend it at home but I was remembering a great home on the beach we saw last year.
What more could you want than a place right on the beach!
Such a spacious place and plenty of pathways to explore.
I can just smell the salt air and feel the breeze in my hair.
Maybe some day I will be able to find this place and be able to move in but until then I'll dream on.....
What ever you do, have a safe and happy holiday!
