The story of the rose

I found this while trying to get my parents home ready for auction and thought I would share it.

The Story of the Rose

God created the rose for Women
It represents beauty.
Its petals represent soft skin.
Its leaves represents outstretched arms,
always loving and giving.
Its stem represents strength.

I give this rose to you, for you are special to me. Each time you look at the rose, remember YOU are SOMEBODY. God did not take the time to make a nobody.

Having to go through all my parents things is very depressing but even finding small things among their belongings can make it seem like they are still here watching .

Winter Blues

Spring seemed so close with snow starting to melt, the days staying lighter longer and then.......Predictions of more significant snowfall. I love snow but enough already! I long for my flowers and warm sunshine.

I want to see green grass and trees with full foliage. Until then I guess I have to settle for pictures of previous years to keep me from going crazy.

Hopefully their prediction of 10" or more is wrong and my cabin fever will be cured.

Early Beginning

Ever since I was young I was drawn to old things. I remember when we would go to upstate PA driving through a small section that had victorian mansions. I would always tell my mom to wake me when we would be almost there. I loved the turrets and wrap around porches and dreamed of living there someday.
When I became a teenager other girls had lifetime cookware put away and I had depression glass and antique creamers. I never felt comfortable in skirts above my knee but wore skirts that come to your ankle with frilly petticoats peaking out
I hope to be able to show you some of my many treasures I collected along the way. It might take me a bit but I will try to get pictures posted. So till next time........
