If you didn't figure it out I love to surround myself with family things. These things bring back so many memories. On my hubbies nightstand I display manly items of my fathers.
My father was a pipe smoker and even today if I get a wiff of certain tobacco and he is here next to me again.
Of course he always carried a pocketknife in his pocket. These are just two of a whole drawer full. Each grandchild got to pick from them and walked away with at least two or three. Each one cherish these small memory tokens.
This pipe was one I bought him for Christmas about 40 years ago. It was his fancy dress up pipe.
The only thing that was not my fathers is this glasses case which actually was my grandfathers.
I really would like to add to the collection from my late father-in-laws things but items of his are scarce. Maybe someday more things will work there way here.

What wonderful treasure and memories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet tribute to your dad. I know what you mean about that certain smell. Whenever I smell Juicy Fruit gum it makes me think of my mother who has been gone for a long time.
ReplyDeleteMy father had a similar pipe that my mother bought for him.
ReplyDeleteWonderful keepsakes to have. I almost felt like I was looking at my grandpa's things!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet remembrances! I love how you've gathered everything together, I can feel the love in it.
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT,
Sally
Ohhh, more wonderful treasures, Terry! I never tire seeing your fabulous vintage items. I think they really add such quaintness to your home. Hopefully, you'll soon get some of your father-in-laws items to round off your display. ;)
