Here she Is.......

 Miss America!!! Yeah right!!!
I know I have been slacking in posts , but with the holidays there just was not enough time.

So....... what to show , what to show.....
How about this traveling beauty kit? I got this at an auction a few years back and really have not done anything with it but store it.

Brush, mirrror, and comb all have their special place to prevent moving.

The inner lining is a little dirty but I'm afraid of trying to clean it since it seems to be silk(?)

The handle is also showing signs of dry rot so I do not pick it up by its handle to prevent it from breaking.

Inside the tag reads Miss America travel companion. Was this a token to contestants or just a sponsored item? No clue. I never found another one or even any mention of it in my research. Not that I did a big search though.

No matter it is still something I like no matter what its history.

  2. I agree with you. It is a very nice bag and still full of all those goodies. I am sure parts of it could be repaired, but might take away from the originality of it.

  9. I'm wondering now just how much of those would be considered 'weapons' these days trying to board a plane with the security they now have. Beautiful set.

My Show n Tell Link---where it's kinda fodder for the National Enquirer Tabloids. Do stop by if you can, I'd love your opinion.

    Happy New Year

  10. What a unique set! I've never seen any like it before either. I have seen other things with "Miss America" on it before, it may just be what the Franklin Company named that particular item OR it could be a special set just for the pageant! I wonder if there is any documentation of that kind of thing by the Miss America Pageant organization? That would be very interesting to check into, wouldn't it?

    Have a Happy New Year!

  13. What a pretty set! I love how it looks so utilitarian on the outside but opens to all that lucious purple silk! What a luxurious treat to brush your hair it must have been. I'm crazy for all things romantic and victorian myself *winks* Vanna
