Christmas in New York

Just a few pictures of New York  from our trip. We walked ALOT and I am still tired. But we had fun and that is all that counts.

I wish you could see the dripping effect that they have for these  icicle lights, just beautiful!

It is hard to tell but this is a huge snowflake.

My daughter and friends skating at Rockerfeller Center.

Daughter (with her closed eyes) in front of some HUGE lights!

This train is in Macy's. Santa is on the top floor and of course we had to go see him!

It was for a change not too cold to walk around and take in the sights. The only thing we bought was food at Hard Rock and a funky hat. LOL! I'm not much of a shop-a-holic and sure hate walking shoulder to shoulder through a store. No offense but we can find most of the same things cheaper and easier at home.

Off To The Big Apple

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. It was a quiet one here with just me and my kids. We all ate and then my son had to go right to work and I went straight to bed for more sleep before I had to go to work. So much for quality time!

Sunday, my daughter and I are off to the big apple for a day of shopping. Ok, more like window shopping since I do not relish the idea of lugging packages around all day. But it is a day out for just us girls.
I hope we can get some great pictures of some of the window displays all around NY. Until next time have a great weekend!

Giving Thanks

Well here it is time for Thanksgiving! I hope everyone enjoys their holiday. I had no big plans for the day since my hubby is going home to NC by himself. ( It will be his first time home for Thanksgiving in the past 19 years) I have mandatory hours at work and my son also has to work.  My kids put the guilt trip on me and now I'm making just turkey legs. We would never eat a whole bird.

This is my table before, plain but functional. After ....
Feels more like Thanksgiving .
I know it is full but I made the table smaller to give more space in the room and it makes it look cramped.

I really didn't want to do much since we are still waiting on the contractors to finish. Don't ask!

I found these leaf plates at the dollar store and had to get them.

My horn of plenty is one my oldest sister made years ago along with the ceramic fruit and gourds.

I really love the look by candlelight but since we will be eating for dinner no candles will be needed.

I hope everyone enjoys their holiday and be sure to GIVE THANKS for the blessing to be with family and friends even if it is only in your heart.

Also say hello at Domestically Speaking, and at

Tick Tock

Hello Ladies! I wanted to get this post done sooner but I won the lottery! Yeah right. But I was lucky enough to catch the bug that is going around work. So I crawled out of bed long enought to pop a few pics up. Just a couple of photos of one of my clocks and gone with the wind lamp of my late uncles.
I blame him for my love of antiques. His home was filled with all sorts of great pieces.  These were two of his favorite pieces. I think they are mine too. I love the colors on the clock.

Well I'm off to lay down again. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Take Time

Hello Ladies! I'm running late today had to bake 4 dozen cupcakes for daughter to take to her schools craft show. I'll share some with you later after I sit back and relax. I know poor hostess thinking of myself!
I love when my favorite magazine comes in and I have time to just kick back and pour over the pages.

I have two old womans magazines from 1938 that are so fun to look at.

Even then they gave decorating tips.

 Of course fashion tips...
From dresswear to headwear....

 Femine tips...(armhole odor LOL)
Being patriotic..

And of course how to be dainty.

I wish I could show you more but now I have to go put icing on all those cupcakes! Help yourself to a cup of tea and enjoy.

Pink Saturday Gift

If you follow my blog you might remember the post I did about my sister. She is battling breast cancer and her craft she does to keep her mind busy is making dolls. For more on that post click here. I showed a few pics of the doll she made my daughter and one of a doll whos pics she sent me.
Well she surprised me with giving me that doll for supporting her. I love her! Thank you!

She has even the cutest toes!

  Doesn't she look real?
Hop over to Beverly's Pink Saturday to see more pink goodness.
